How to Change the Diet and Shift Baby Birds to Beak Bites?
- If you’ve been feeding babies with a different hand feeding formula before, it’s a good idea to make dietary changes gradually.
- Wait at least 24 to 48 hours before making the switch. During this time, prepare both the new and old formulas separately as instructed.
- Then, gradually mix them together, increasing the amount of the new formula from the Beak Bites hand feeding formula until the old diet is completely replaced.
- If you switch the diet suddenly, it might slow down the crop’s digestion because of the sudden change in food.
- To help with this, try using a weaker mixture of the new formula for the first couple of feedings. This can help prevent any problems with the baby bird’s digestion during the transition.
How to prepare BEAK BITE before feeding:
To prepare Beak Bites, heat water to 70-80 °C, then gradually mix 40% formula with 60% water in a sterilized container until the mixture achieves a creamy pudding consistency. Let it cool to 40 °C before feeding to avoid burning the crop.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS
After Opening: Use the food within 60 to 65 days to keep it fresh and of good quality. Close the package tightly and store it in a cool, dry place.
For Longer Storage: You can keep it in the fridge or freezer. Beak Bites stays good at room temperature if kept away from direct sunlight
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS TO KEEP BIRDS ACTIVE & HEALTHY
Feeding baby birds is important to keep them healthy. Here are some simple steps to follow:
- Stick to a regular feeding schedule. This helps the baby bird’s tummy (crop) to empty between meals. It also helps us see if the bird is eating enough and prevents food from staying in the tummy for too long and going bad.
- Use a clean and germ-free syringe, spoon, tube, or something else that feels comfortable feeding the bird. Use a different one for each baby bird to avoid spreading any sickness.
- Give the bird food when it’s making little bobbing motions, like it’s asking for food. This way, it’s more natural for the bird to eat, and it’s less likely to accidentally breathe in the food.
- Feed the bird until its tummy looks nicely rounded or until it doesn’t want any more food, which ever happens first. Don’t give too much food, or the bird might throw it up. Normally, each meal should be about 10-12% of the bird’s weight.
- Beak Bites special formula is made just for baby birds and is the best food for them. You can add a bit of fruit and veggies (like baby food) to their diet, but not more than 20%. It’s not a good idea to add extra vitamins or minerals. Taking care of baby birds is important, and following these steps will help them grow strong and healthy.
